The Pittsburgh Panthers and the Youngstown State Penguins face off on Saturday on college basketball action.
The Pittsburgh Panthers are off to a 9-0 start as they look to get back to the NCAA Tournament after a disaster of a season a year ago. Pitt has played the 165th ranked schedule in the country and it looks to get much more difficult when they begin ACC play. Lamar Patterson is averaging 16.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game to lead the Panthers. Talib Zanna is averaging 13 points and 7.0 rebounds, Cameron Wright is averaging 11.8 points, and Durand Johnson is averaging 10 points. Pittsburgh is averaging 81.7 points and they are shooting 49.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 60.3 points and their opponents are shooting 39.5 percent. Pittsburgh hasn’t faced a top tier opponent but they have beaten who has been put in front of them.

The Youngstown State Penguins are off to a 7-4 start to the season which is the second best record in the Horizon League thus far this season. YSU has lost three f their last four games and they are 1-3 on the road this season. Kendrick Perry is averaging 20.7 points and 4.9 assists to lead the Penguins. Kamren Belin is averaging 12.9 points and 4.5 rebounds, and Ryan Weber and Bobby Hain are averaging 10.2 points per game each. Youngstown State is averaging 85.1 points and they are shooting 46.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 71.7 points and their opponents are shooting 43.7 percent. Youngstown seems to have plenty of actions when they have the ball.
Pittsburgh is 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 home games. Youngstown State is 3-8 against the spread against a team with a winning record and 0-4 against the spread in their last four Saturday games.
This is a case of just too many points so while I don’t love this one I am going to take the points with YSU.
