The Wichita State Shockers and the Tennessee Volunteers face off on Saturday in college basketball action.
The Wichita State Shockers are unbeaten and ranked eighth in the country and are looking very much like the team that went to the Final Four a season ago. Wichita State has played the 108th ranked schedule in the country ad they have beaten two teams with a RPI in the top 50. Ron Baker is leading the Shockers averaging 15.3 points and 4.6 rebounds. Cleanthony Early is averaging 14.3 points and 6.4 rebounds, Fred Van Vleet is averaging 11.7 points and 5.6 assists, and Tekele Cotton is averaging 10.4 points and 5.2 rebounds. Wichita State is averaging 78.4 points and they are shooting 46 percent while defensively they are allowing 60.3 points and their opponents are shooting 38.8 percent. With Creighton gone the MVC has definitely lost some of its luster this season.

The Tennessee Volunteers have been notoriously slow starters to their seasons but this year at 6-2 they are in better shape than usual. Tennessee as played the 26th ranked schedule but it will get much more difficult when SEC play begins. Jordan McCrae is averaging 18.8 points per game to lead the Vols. Jarnell Stokes is averaging 14.9 points and 10 rebounds, Jeronne Maymon is averaging 10 points and 7.6 rebounds, and Antonio Barton is averaging 8.6 points. Tennessee is averaging 76.4 points and they are shooting 45.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 64 points and their opponents are shooting 44.8 percent. Tennessee missed out on the NCAA Tournament last season and they hope to be part of the field this year.
Wichita State is 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six home games, 15-5-2 against the spread in their last 22 games overall, and 33-15-3 against the spread in their last 51 games. Tennessee is 4-1 against the spread in their last six games, 10-4 against the spread following a win, and 12-5 against the spread in their last 17 road games.
This sets up as one of those games where Tennessee either pulls the big upset or gets blown out and in this case it points to a blowout.
