The 4-5 Chicago State Cougars look to upend the 5-4 DePaul Blue Demons Sunday afternoon at 4:30PM on Fox Sports 1.
Chicago State rolls into this contest with their cross city rival fresh off a somewhat underwhelming win over non-D1 opponent Wisconsin-Parkside. The Cougars scored a season high in points with the 90-81 win but could not do much to prevent WI-Parkside from sticking around. Chicago State shot it 62% from the field and were led in scoring by Corey Gray’s 19 and Nate Duhon’s 18. Despite the hot shooting from the field, the Cougars could have easily gotten to the century mark if not for struggling to 15-27 from the line for the game -- an area they will need to improve upon when facing the likes of DePaul.

DePaul moved above .500 with a solid win over visiting Florida Atlantic this past Thursday 81-70. The Blue Demons were carried by the double double showing of Sandi Marcius who finishehd with 19 points and 12 boards. In addition to the play of Marcius, DePaul got a much needed boost from Cleveland Melvin who added 19 points of his own. The Baltimore native had struggled in recent contests and gives DePaul quite a boost when he is on his game. The much needed win came in a good spot for the Blue Demons as they now move into the most manageable portion of this season’s schedule.
Some trends to consider - the under is 7-2 in Chicago State’s past 9 games and DePaul 2-5 against the spread in their last 7 Sunday games.
This one should be over pretty quickly as DePaul features a much superior roster to Chicago State. The Cougars struggled to stop a much less skilled Parkside team and should have their hands more than full with the likes of Cleveland Melvin and Marcius. Look for solid contributions from these two and a dominant showing on the boards as DePaul gets the win and cover.
