The Washington State Cougars welcome the Pepperdine Waves to town for some Sunday basketball action.
Pepperdine is an offense first squad that needs to step it up on the defensive end. That's not to say the scoring has been outstanding because it can be inconsistent. The offense was inconsistent in a 75-69 decision at UC Irvine as the Waves trailed by ten before exploding for a 45 point second half. Both teams connected at around 45% with little difference between the two except for a few more free throws and a couple of baskets. The duo of Stacy Davis and Jeremy Major were a tough one, two punch with 18 points each with Davis hauling in ten rebounds followed by Malcolm Brooks with 16 points.

Many people will look at Washington State and their 4-4 record and think they have been mediocre. The truth is that the Cougars have played some tough teams which needs to be factored in. WSU got back on the winning track with a 67-66 victory at Idaho after dropping four of the previous five. Neither team impressed with around 40% marksmanship but Washington State over came a 25-8 deficit at the charity stripe with 20 more looks at the basket. DaVonte Lacy gave the Waves a game high 23 points on 8-17 shooting including five threes with Royce Woolridge adding 13 followed by a ten point, 14 rebound performance from DJ Shelton.
I'm not sure what these teams will bring to the table here which makes this interesting to me. I'm thinking there are quite a few similarities so if I'm right the points are the way to go...
