The upset hopeful Florida Gulf Coast Eagles face instate rival the South Florida Bulls.
I think it's safe to say that Florida Gulf Coast won't be making another surprising run in the NCAA Tournament. Neither end of the floor has stood out thus far although both came up big in an 83-51 rout of visiting Samford. The Eagles took a 14 point lead with them in to the locker room and never looked back with 51% shooting leading the way. The Bulldogs were held under 33% accuracy and 2-16 from long range while giving the ball away 18 times. Brett Comer led the scoring spree with 18 points and five yanks with Bernard Thompson adding 15 followed by Nate Hicks and Chase Fieler with 12 and eleven points with Fieler grabbing ten rebounds.

South Florida is off to a good start but at the end of the day I don't know if they have the horses to challenge in the AAC. I still think the Bulls will have to slow things down and control the scoreboard to be competitive which was the winning formula in a 66-64 decision over visiting Alabama. USF held a slight 43%-39% edge in marksmanship with a 17-14 advantage at the charity stripe providing the winning margin in a defensive struggle that played in to the hands of South Florida. The Bulls were balanced offensively with Victor Rudd netting 15 points and snaring seven boards with Chris Perry adding 14 points and hauling in 14 rebounds. Corey Allen Jr. and Musa Abdul-Aleem contributed nine points apiece with all nine players that saw the floor finding the scoring column.
Interesting match up with South Florida in the driver's seat in my view. The one chance for the Eagles is they make some shots in the half court but no real edge for me to bet this...
