The VCU Rams and the Wofford Terriers face off on Tuesday in college basketball action.
The Virginia Commonwealth Rams are 8-3 for the season but after starting the season highly ranked it has been a little bit of a letdown. While the Rams generally make their mark in tournament play they are coming off of a loss at Northern Iowa against a team they should beat. Treveon Graham is averaging 16.2 points and 6.8 rebounds the lead VCU. Juvonte Reddic is averaging 12.4 points and 7.4 rebounds, Melvin Johnson is averaging 9.6 points, and Rob Brandenberg is averaging 9.5 points. VCU is averaging 75.9 points and they are shooting 42.9 percent while defensively they are allowing 68 points and their opponents are shooting 46 percent. VCU faces a tough schedule in the A-10 but should only get better as the season goes on.

The Wofford Terriers have put together some decent teams throughout the years but this year doesn’t look to be one of those. Wofford is 3-6 overall and 1-5 on the road this season and have lost their last two games. Spencer Collins leads the Terriers averaging 14.7 points per game. Lee Skinner is averaging 9.4 points and 7.1 rebounds, Karl Cochran is averaging 9.3 points and 4.7 rebounds, and Jaylen Allen is averaging 7.9 points. Wofford is averaging 63.3 points and they are shooting 42.5 percent while defensively they are allowing 65.6 points and their opponents are shooting 46.5 percent. Wofford just doesn’t have the firepower and it could be a long year in the SoCon for them.
VCU is 2-6 against the spread in their last eight non-conference games, 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games, and 1-7 against the spread following a loss. Wofford is 5-0 against the spread against the A-10, 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games, and 4-9-1 against the spread in their last 13 road games.
VCU needs a feel good game and this one looks like it can fit that bill and I like the Rams to cover.
