The Mississippi Rebels and Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks take the hardwood in Tuesday night action.
Louisiana-Monroe hasn't had much to cheer about in recent years and many believe 2013-14 will be more of the same. I am reserving judgment becaus the team has looked a little bit better then in previous seasons although it's early. The Warhawks had a three game winning streak snapped in a 61-54 loss to LSU as a 16 point favorite. The offense simple struggled to find the shooting touch at 37% in an other wise winnable contest. A 2-12 performance from distance was a killer with nobody able to stop the Tigers Jordan Mickey who scored 25.Marvin Williams paced the attack with 12 points followed by Tyler Ongwae and Amos Olatayo with 12 and eleven points.

Mississippi looks like a very dangerous team in the SEC and one that most teams probably want to avoid come tournament time. The Rebels rebounded from an overtime loss to visiting Oregon by knocking off a solid Middle Tennessee State club by a 72-63 count by taking a seven point lead after 20 minutes and holding serve. Ole Miss used 45% marksmanship and a game high 25 point performance from Jarvis Summers to carry the day. Marshall Henderson was next in line with 15 points and five helpers while the duo of Aaron Jones and LaDarius White combined for 21 points and eight rebounds. The defense held a veteran Blue Raiders squad to 40% from the floor to win it.
Although the Warhawks have impressed me I thinke Mississippi needs this game more and comes out with fire in their belly and I'll be surprised by a poor effort...
