The Southern Utah Thunderbirds look for the huge upset of the #23 San Diego State Aztecs.
When you look at the numbers Southern Utah has put up it's easy to see why the team is struggling. The offense is averaging less then 60 points and opponents are scoring more then 80. Neither number improved much in 73-51 loss to UNLV with the Thunderbirds unable to cut in to a 15 point half time deficit. The Rebels connected on 45% from the floor and SUU struggled to a 31.6% mark while turning the ball over 15 times and trailing the rebound battle 40-24. Jaren Jeffery and Trey Kennedy paced the Southern Utah attack with ten points each but Kennedy was only 3-13 from the field.

San Diego State has climbed in to the top 25 and their goal now is to climb even higher in the national rankings. They certainly haven't hurt themselves in that respect with a six game winning streak following a 70-63 decision over Washington. The scoring and defense have been on the same page more often then not and needed to be versus the Huskies who led by nine at the break. Xavier Thames paced a second half charge with a game high 19 points and six helpers with Winston Shepard adding 17 points on 4-13 from the floor. JJ O'Brien chipped in with ten and Josh Davis rounded out the top contributors with an eight point, ten rebound performance.
Obviously San Diego State wins this but the huge chalk makes this a dicey bet. Do the Aztecs even care if the margin is 25 or 35? If you can't answer this question with confidence look elsewhere because I am...
