The Auburn Tigers and the Clemson Tigers face off on Thursday in an ACC vs. SEC college basketball battle.
The Auburn Tigers are 4-3 for the season and they have lost their last two games. Auburn is 4-1 at home this season but they haven’t beaten a team with a RPI better than 150. Chris Denson leads Auburn averaging 19.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. K.T. Harrell is averaging 18.4 points, Tahj Shamsid-Deen is averaging 9.1 points, and Asauhn Dixon-Tatum is averaging 7.0 points and 6.6 rebounds. Auburn is averaging 75.9 points and they are shooting 43.5 percent while defensively they are allowing 77 points and their opponents are shooting 46.6 percent. Auburn has played just the 310th ranked schedule and it will get much more difficult when SEC conference play begins.

The Clemson Tigers are 8-2 on the season but their wins have come against soft competition and primarily at home. Clemson is 0-1 on the road this season and both of their losses have been to teams with a RPI better than 50. K.J. McDaniels is averaging 17.6 points and 6.6 rebounds to lead Clemson. Rod Hall is averaging 9.9 points, Jordan Roper is averaging 8.4 points, and Damarcus Harrison is averaging 7.6 points. Clemson is averaging 68.6 points and they are shooting 43.9 percent while defensively they are allowing 52.8 points and their opponents shoot 34.7 percent. Clemson’s offense is lacking but the Tigers play solid defense.
Auburn is 2-7 against the spread in their last nine home games, 2-12 against the spread in their last 14 games, and 1-10 against the spread following a loss. Clemson is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven non-conference games, 5-1 against the spread in their last six games, and 11-4 against the spread against the SEC.
Clemson is hardly a world beater but they are far better than Auburn and even though they don’t have much offense, they still get the cover here.
