The Kentucky Wildcats and the Belmont Bruins face off on Saturday in Lexington in college basketball action.
The Kentucky Wildcats have lost two of their last three games and with their showdown with Louisville on tap next the Cats are scrambling to land on their feet. UK had big expectations coming into the season but they look like they might struggle to reach them. Julius Randle leads Kentucky averaging 17.2 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Aaron Harrison is averaging 14.4 points, James Young is averaging 14.1 points, and Andrew Harrison is averaging 10.9 points. Kentucky is averaging 80.5 points and they are shooting 47.6 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 65.1 points and their opponents are shooting 37.2 percent. Kentucky’s has some improving to do if they want to compete for the SEC title this year.

The Belmont Bruins have lost three of their last four games and appear to be struggling. Belmont had a win over North Carolina earlier this year but they are coming off of one-sided losses to Denver and South Dakota State. J.J. Mann leads Belmont and he is averaging 17.7 points per game. Craig Bradshaw is averaging 12.5 points, Drew Windler is averaging 12.2 points, and Blake Jenkins is averaging 8.6 points. Belmont is averaging 80.1 points and they are shooting 49.2 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 76.5 points and their opponents are shooting 47.1 percent. Belmont has played the 76th ranked schedule in the nation thus far.
Kentucky is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games, 2-5 against the spread against the OVC, and 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games against a team with a winning road record. Belmont is 6-15 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, and 2-7 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
Belmont is battle tested and I like them here getting the bundle of points against the under achieving Cats.
