The Boston University Terriers travel to Maryland to play the Terps on Saturday.
Boston University fell to 6-5 on the year after losing to Norfolk State in overtime 86-82 last week. The Terriers shot over 54% from the field and 46.4% from behind the arc. Sophomore G John Papale led Boston University with 18 points, but he did not score in overtime. Sophomore G Maurice Watson Jr. led the team with 8 rebounds and 12 assists. The Terriers allowed Norfolk State to shoot 50% from the field and 78.9% from the free throw line in the loss. This was the highest total given up by the Terriers all year, as Boston University has now lost three straight games after winning four straight. The Terriers rank in the middle of the pack in most statistical categories and are especially not a good rebounding team. Boston University averages 71 points per game and is shooting 44.5% from the field. Wastson Jr. leads the team with 14.6 points per game and 6.5 assists per contest this season. The Terriers will head out on the road for the fifth time this season; Boston University is 2-2 on the road this season.

The Maryland Terps improved to 7-4 on the year after beating Florida Atlantic 66-62 last week. The Terps only shot 39.7% from the field and 35% from three-point range, but they did not allow FAU to shoot well either. F Jake Layman led Maryland with 22 points along with 2 steals and 2 blocks in the win. Maryland has played a decent schedule so far this season and two of their losses were to ranked teams in UConn and Ohio State. The Terps are a good rebounding team, pulling down close to 40 boards per game this season. Maryland is averaging 73.5 points per game and is shooting 44.8% from the field. G Dez Wells leads the team with 15.3 points per game, while Layman is right behind him at 15 points per game. Maryland is 3-1 at home this season and will be looking to win their third straight game.
Maryland is looking to win their third straight game and play better basketball. The Terps have not looked sharp early on in the season and will need to improve before conference play gets in full swing. Boston University has lost three straight games and will be coming into a hostile environment on Saturday. I don’t think Maryland will have a tough time scoring in this one, and Boston University will struggle to keep up. I’ll take the Terps to win and cover at home no matter what the number comes out at.
