The Line: North Carolina Tar Heels -19 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Davidson Wildcats travel to North Carolina to play the Tar Heels on Saturday.
Davidson dropped to 4-7 on the year after losing to Drexel 72-58 last Sunday. The Wildcats shot only 32.8% from the field and an awful 13.6% from long distance. Brian Sullivan led Wildcat scorers with 14 points and Tyler Kalinoski added 13 points along with 12 rebounds. Davidson did play well on the defensive end of the floor, allowing Drexel to shoot over 43% from the field and 50% from behind the arc. On the year, Davidson ranks near the bottom in almost every statistical category this season. Brooks averages a team-high 16.8 points per game and a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game. Droney is averaging 13.1 point per game, while Kalinoski is averaging 6 rebounds and a team-high 3.4 assists per contest. The Wildcats have played a tough schedule early on which may benefit them as they get into conference competition. This will be Davidson’s fourth road game; the Wildcats are 2-1 on the road this season.

The North Carolina Tar Heels dropped to 7-3 on the year after losing at home to Texas 86-83 on Wednesday night. The Tar Heels shot only 38.5% from the field and over 47% from long distance. North Carolina was dominated on the glass by Texas and only shot 51% from the free-throw line. Marcus Paige led the Tar Heels with 23 points and Leslie McDonald added 15 points. Brice Johnson only had 6 points but led the team with 9 rebounds. On the season, the Tar Heels are a good rebounding team, pulling down over 40 boards per game which ranks 31st in the country. North Carolina is averaging over 78 points per game and is shooting a decent 46.8% from the field. Paige leads the team with 19.6 points per game, while McDonald is averaging 15 points per game. Johnson averages a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game, while Paige averages a team-high 4.1 assists per game. The Tar Heels have played 6 games at home so far this year; North Carolina is 4-2 at home with losses to Belmont and Texas.
These two teams last played back in 2007 where the Tar Heels won by four points at home. North Carolina will be fired up after losing to Texas on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, Davidson has struggled against the tough teams they have played early on this season. The Wildcats lost by 34 points at Duke, 13 against UVA, and 31 against Clemson so far this season. North Carolina should be able to take advantage inside on both ends of the floor. I think the Tar Heels will dominate the glass and get easy opportunities down low on the offensive end of the floor. North Carolina wins big at home on Saturday.
