The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish face off on Saturday Night in New York in college basketball action.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are unbeaten and ranked number three in the nation but the bulk of their games have been at home so far this season. OSU has played one road game and this will be their first game played on a neutral court. Lenzelle Smith Jr. is averaging 13.5 points and 5.3 rebounds to lead the Buckeyes. LaQuinton Ross is averaging 12.5 points and 4.9 rebounds, Amir Williams is averaging 10 points and 8.1 rebounds, and Aaron Craft is averaging 10 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. Ohio State is averaging 76.2 points and they are shooting 47.9 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 55.5 points and their opponents are shooting 37.3 percent. Ohio State has learned in recent years championships aren’t won in December and they will be tested plenty this season in the coming months.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have has their share of ups and downs this season and they are coming off of a big win against Indiana. Notre Dame is 0-1 against teams ranked in the top 25 but they are 1-0 in games played on a neutral court. Jerian Grant leads ND averaging 19.1 points and 6.4 assists. Garrick Sherman is averaging 14.5 points and 7.4 rebounds, Pat Connaughton is averaging 13.6 points and 7.5 rebounds, and Eric Atkins is averaging 11.9 points and 4.5 assists. Notre Dame is averaging 81.2 points and they are shooting 47.8 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 69.7 points and their opponents shoot 39.7 percent. Notre Dame has lacked consistency and we just aren’t sure what we are going to get from them on any given night.
Ohio State is 6-0 against the spread against the ACC and 4-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Notre Dame is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven neutral site games, 5-12 against the spread following a win, and 2-5-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
I was surprised that Notre Dame got the best of Indiana but even so I still like Ohio State here.
