The Cal Poly Mustangs travel to the Petersen Events Center to tangle with the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Cal Poly is not a big offensive team so controlling the scoreboard is in their best interest and the defense has shown the ability to do just that. However, that wasn't the case in a 79-59 defeat at Loyola Marymount with a two deficit at the half turning in to a melt down. The Mustangs continued to struggle offensively at 39% shooting and that was bad news with the Lions hitting at 49% and owning the line 23-9. Chris Eversley was the only player to crack ten points with a game high 21 with seven rebounds while Brian Bennett and David Nwaba tossed in a combined 15 points.

Pittsburgh has been able to do what they wanted in the early stages of 2013-14 with a big time offense usually grabbing the headlines. That big offense wasn't so big as the Panthers dropped their first game of the season by a 44-43 count at Cincinnati. I don't know if it was good defense or poor shooting or a combination of both but Pitt connected at just 31% with the Bearcats countering at less then 38%. Cincy sank nine more field goals but Pitt stayed alive with a 19-1 advantage at the foul line. Talib Zanna paced the Panthers scoring with 12 points with Lamar Patterson netting eleven points. The bench gave the team only two points among four players.
Pittsburgh has the ability to win big and will if they are at the top of their game but to be honest I don't always trust this team...
