The Virginia Cavaliers and the Northern Iowa Panthers face off on Saturday in college basketball action.
The Virginia Cavaliers are 7-3 for the season but they have lost their last two games. UVA is 4-2 at home this season but they have no wins against teams with a RPI better than 50. Joe Harris leads the Cavs averaging 11.3 points per game. Malcolm Brogdon is averaging 10.8 points and 5.2 rebounds, Anthony Gill is averaging 10.1 points, and Justin Anderson is averaging 8.0 points. Virginia is averaging 66.7 points and they are shooting 46.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 55.1 points and their opponents shoot 37.7 percent. Virginia is coming off of a three-point loss at Green Bay.

The Northern Iowa Panthers have played the 33rd ranked schedule in the country and they enter this game at 5-5. UNI is coming off of a win against VCU that has to be a confidence booster. Deon Mitchell is averaging 13.5 points and he is leading the Panthers. Seth Tuttle is averaging 12.7 points and 6.8 rebounds, Chip Rank is averaging 8.9 points, and Nate Buss is averaging 11.5 points and 5.3 rebounds. Northern Iowa is averaging 72.7 points and they are shooting 44.6 percent while defensively they are allowing 70.6 points and their opponents are shooting 42.4 percent. Northern Iowa’s schedule should get much easier when they begin MVC play.
Virginia is 3-11 against the spread in their last 14 games, 2-6 against the spread in their last eight non-conference games, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games. Northern Iowa is 1-4 against the spread following a win and 0-5 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread.
Virginia plays in low scoring games and this one looks to be no different so the double-digit point spread will come into play so I will take the points.
