The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the South Florida Bulls face off on Sunday in Las Vegas in college basketball action.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are 8-2 for the season but they have played one of the easiest schedules in the nation. MSU is 1-0 in neutral site games but they have played just one team with a RPI better than 100. Craig Sword leads the Bulldogs averaging 15.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Gavin Ware is averaging 10.7 points and 8.1 rebounds, Colin Borchert is averaging 8.6 points, and Roquez Johnson is averaging 9.3 points. The South Florida Bulls are 8-2 for the season and they have won their last four games in a row. USF is 2-0 on the road but this is their first neutral site game of the season. Victor Rudd leads the Bulls averaging 15.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Corey Allen Jr. is averaging 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds, Chris Perry is averaging 8.8 points and 6.6 rebounds, and Martino Brock is averaging 8.2 points. South Florida is averaging 71.9 points and they are shooting 44.4 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 67.5 points and their opponents are shooting 40 percent. USF traditionally gets it done with defense and rebounding.
Mississippi State is 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 non-conference games, 0-4 against the spread following a win, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six neutral site games. South Florida is 3-1-1 against the spread against the SEC, 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 neutral site games, and 5-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
South Florida never makes it look pretty but they do get it done and I look for them to get it done here.
