The West Virginia Mountaineers and the Purdue Boilermakers face off on Sunday in college basketball action.
The West Virginia Mountaineers have lost three of their last five games but all three of their losses came to teams ranked in the top 25. WVU has played the 96th ranked schedule in the nation and are 5-1 at home this season. Eron Harris is averaging 18.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game to lead the Mountaineers. Juwan Staten is averaging 16.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game, Terry Henderson is averaging 10.5 points, and Devin Williams is averaging 9.2 poits and 7.5 rebounds per game. West Virginia is averaging 82 points and they are shooting 47.3 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 68.7 points and their opponents shoot 42 percent. West Virginia’s schedule projects to be the fifth toughest in the nation this season.

The Purdue Boilermakers are 9-3 for the season and they haven’t played a true road game to this point. Purdue is 1-3 in neutral site games most recently losing to Butler. Terone Johnson leads the Boilermakers averaging 13.5 points per game. Ronnie Johnson is averaging 10.5 points, Bryson Scott is averaging 10.2 points, and A.J. Hammons is averaging 8.2 points and 6.4 rebounds. Purdue is averaging 78.8 points and they are shooting 45.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 70 points and their opponents are shooting 40.8 percent. Purdue begins Big Ten play on January 4th against Ohio State.
West Virginia is 8-20-1 against the spread in their last 29 non-conference games, 5-20-1 against the spread in their last 26 home games, and 1-4 against the spread against the Big Ten. Purdue is 4-0 against the spread against the Big 12, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games.
Purdue is getting seven here but I see the Boilermakers having a chance to win outright but either way the points look to be a solid play.
