The Boise State Broncos make the long trip to the Stan Steriff Center to tangle with the Hawaii Warriors.
Boise State kicked off the 2013-14 season a perfect 8-0 but were side tracked with consecutive defeats at the hands of Kentucky and Saint Mary's. The Broncos weren't out classed in an 82-74 loss to the Gaels with both teams connecting in the 49% range with the biggest difference being the Gaels leading 12-6 from long range. Derrick Marks pumped in a team leading 22 points with six pulls and five helpers followed by a 20 point effort from Jeff Elorriaga while Ryan Watkins and Mikey Thompson netted 14 and eight points respectively with Watkins snagging six rebounds.
Hawaii is also off to a very nice start to begin the new campaign with five consecutive victories following a 94-84 decision over rival Chaminade. That upped the Warriors record to 7-2 behind anothe big offensive performance which has been routine for this team. UH buried shots at a 51% pace while holding the Silverswords to 38% while owning a 32-24 edge at the charity stripe. The key was limiting the Silverswords to 8-27 from beyond the arc where they can score in a hurry. Christian Standhardinger exploded for 31 points and eight rebounds with Isaac Fortu checking in with 18 points and six pulls while Keith Shamburger and Garrett Nevels netted 17 and 16 points as the starting five scored all but nine points.
I think both teams are playing well and the deciding factor for me is the Broncos schedule. Of course this is a brutally long trip which is not going to make this any easier...
