The Seton Hall Pirates and the Lafayette Leopards face off on Friday in college basketball action.
Seton Hall has been up and down this season and they have one more chance to work things out before starting their Big East schedule on New Year’s Eve. Seton Hall is 6-2 at home this season and while two of their losses came to teams with a RPI better than 50, two of them came to teams with a RPI worse than 200. The Pirates have suffered big injuries as both Sterling Gibbs and Fuquan Edwin are both out for a prolonged period. Brian Olivier is averaging 11.8 points, Gene Teague is averaging 10.2 points and 9.2 rebounds, and Brandon Mobley is averaging 9.2 points and 5.5 rebounds. Seton Hall is averaging 78 points and they are shooting 45.1 percent while defensively they area allowing 71.8 points and their opponents are shooting 43.4 percent. Seton Hall has played the 206th ranked schedule and it looks to get much tougher as the season goes on.

The Lafayette Leopards are 4-6 on the season and are playing their seventh road game of the year. Lafayette is playing their last game before starting their Patriot schedule on January 2nd. Seth Hinrichs leads Lafayette averaging 20.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Bryce Scott is averaging 16.7 points, Dan Trist is averaging 12.3 points and 5.6 rebounds, and Nick Lindner is averaging 11.1 points and 4.2 assists. Lafayette is averaging 76.7 points and they are shooting 48.2 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 75.5 points and their opponents are shooting 44.7 percent. Lafayette has played the 217th ranked schedule in the nation and they are 2-4 on the road.
Seton Hall is 4-9 against the spread following a game that they covered the spread, 5-16-1 against the spread in their last 22 home games, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games against a team with a losing road record. Lafayette is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games, and 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
Lafayette has the firepower to keep this at least close especially with the injuries at SHU and they should at the very least cover the spread.
