Firestone Fieldhouse will be hopping when their Pepperdine Waves host the San Diego Toreros.
San Diego has been a bit up and down the last few weeks with a 2-3 record that saw the Toreros record settle at 9-4. SD received a break in facing a struggling Southern Utah and took full advantage in a 67-52 victory. San Diego burned the nets at 51% with the Thunderbirds hitting at 38.5% and giving the ball away 17 times. The Toreros turned 19 SUU personals in to a 22-3 edge at the line which was decisive. Johnny Dee led all scorers with 16 points and and seven pulls with Dennis Kramer right on his tail with 15 points and eight pulls followed by a 12 point, six assist and five steal performance from Christopher Anderson.

Pepperdine has been able to score the basketball in 2013 and so have the opposition but the defense came up big in a 76-64 decision over Houston Baptist. The Waves held the Huskies to only 39% from the floor which wasn't enough to compete with Pepperdine's 46.8% accuracy. With the better shooting and small advantages throughout the boxscore the Waves were clearly the better team. The duo of Stacy Davis and Brendan Lane were unstoppable with 21 points apiece while combining for 21 rebounds while Jeremy Major and Malcolm Brooks added 17 points with Brooks snagging five boards and dishing out five assists.
Pepperdine is always dangerous because they are capable of scoring quickly but San Diego has some pretty good defensive numbers and with me liking defense I'll go with the D...
