The Charlotte 49ers and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets face off on Sunday in college basketball action.
The Charlotte 49ers have lost two of their last four games but overall they look to have the talent to compete against the better teams. Charlotte has played the 253rd ranked schedule and they are 4-1 at home this season. Shawn Lester is the 49ers leading scorer averaging 14.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Willie Clayton is averaging 12 points and 9.6 assists, Terrance Williams is averaging 11.2 points, and Pierria Henry and Mike Thorne each average 11 points per game. Charlotte has talent but lacks depth and all of their weaknesses were brought to the forefront in their 52-point loss to Florida State.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are coming off of a 13-point loss to Vanderbilt but they appear to be on their way back to being competitive. GT has had a few down years but traditionally they have been one of the stronger programs in the nation. Trae Golden is averaging 12.2 points to lead the Yellow Jackets. Marcus Georges-Hunt is averaging 11.9 points, Daniel Miller is averaging 10.6 points and 8.1 rebounds, and Robert Carter is averaging 10.5 points and 9.4 rebounds. Georgia Tech is averaging 73.2 points and they are shooting 44.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 65.8 points and their opponents shoot 39.3 percent. Georgia Tech’s schedule gets a lot more difficult as the begin ACC play.
Charlotte is 6-2-1 against the spread in their last nine games, 3-1-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five games. Georgia Tech is 4-1 against the spread in their last five against Conference USA, 7-3 against the spread following a loss, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games.
Charlotte is laying 3.5 here and while they can be had Georgia Tech doesn’t play the style that Charlotte struggles with so look for the 49ers to get the best of this one.
