The Niagara Purple Eagles look to down the visiting Brown Bears in Sunday action.
Brown had been enjoying a solid start to the year but have dropped back to back contests following a 58-52 loss to Northwestern so the goal is to not let this turn in to a slump. The offense certainly has to make shots as the 31.7% we saw versus the Wildcats isn't going to win many games. A 3-15 mark on threes and 9-19 from the stripe were only competitive because Northwestern sank shots at 35.6%. Sean McGonagillled the attack with 16 points on 6-16 shooting with Cedric Kuakumensah tossed in ten points and snagged five boards while Tavon Blackmon chipped in with eight.

Niagara has obviously gotten off to a slow start at 3-9 although they score the basketball. That means opponents are scoring as well and are doing it better. The Purple Eagles were in position to pick up a nice victory over St Bonaventure but came up just short by a 74-72 count. The Purple Eagles outshot the visitors 48%-42% but the Bonnies dominated the offensive glass 17-5 which led to 16 more looks at the basket which were the deciding factor. Antoine Mason pumped in a game high 24 points with five boards followed by a 20 point performance from Marvin Jordan. All nine members of the rotation scored but production outside of the top two still was hit or miss.
The records say Brown might be the choice but to be honest the Ivy League is unpredictable. Niagara is as well so we'll see how this toss up plays out...
