Duke shot 40% against Eastern Michigan’s tough zone defense while hitting 10 three-pointers. Syracuse improved to 12-0 on the year after beating Villanova at home 78-62 on Saturday. The Orange shot an impressive 46.7% from the field and 53.8% from behind the arc. Syracuse also shot 82.9% from the free throw line, knocking down 29 of 35 shots. Trevor Cooney led the way with 21 points and Tyler Ennis had 20 for the Orange. Syracuse fell into an early hole against Villanova, but they went of a 20-0 run over the next five minutes to take their first lead and never trailed again. C.J. Fair had 17 points for the Orange despite constant double-teams all day long. On the year, the Orange are averaging 76.7 points per game while shooting over 47% from the field. Fair leads the team with 17.8 points per game, while Cooney averages 14.7 per contest. The Orange will stay home for this game; Syracuse is 8-0 at home so far this season.
Eastern Michigan has been blown out by some elite teams this year and it will be tough for them to rebound after playing Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Eagles now have to play in the Carrier Dome against arguably the best team in the country. I’m taking Syracuse to win by a big number on Tuesday night.
