The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets travel to Duke to play the Blue Devils on Tuesday night.
Georgia Tech dropped to 9-5 on the year after losing at Maryland 77-61 on Saturday. Georgia Tech has lost 8-straight ACC openers and hasn’t started league play with a victory since winning at Maryland in 1993. The Yellow Jackets shot only 38.3% from the field and a miserable 26.3% from behind the arc. Marcus Georges-Hunt led Georgia Tech with 11 points, while Trae Golden added 10 points and 5 rebounds. On the season, Golden leads the team with 12.9 points and 3.5 assists per contest. Georges-Hunt is averaging 11.7 points per game, while Robert Carter Jr. is averaging a team-high 9.3 rebounds per game. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 71.2 points per game and shooting 43.9% from the field as a team this year. Georgia Tech does a decent job distributing the basketball of the offensive end of the floor and they do a great job hitting the glass, averaging 40.1 rebounds per game. After winning three straight games in December, the Yellow Jackets have lost two of their last three games, all coming on the road.

The Duke Blue Devils dropped to 11-3 on the year after losing at Notre Dame 79-77 on Saturday. With Duke’s loss, there’s a good chance it falls out of the AP Top 10. The Blue Devils have been ranked in the AP Top 10 for 122 consecutive weeks, the 2nd-longest streak of all time. The Blue Devils shot only 41.4% from the field and 42.9% from three-point range. Rodney Hood led Duke with 27 points, while Quinn Cook had 22 points in the loss. On the year, Jabari Parker leads the Blue Devils in scoring with 20.4 points per game. Parker also leads the team in rebounding with 7.7 boards per contest, while Cook leads the team with 6.1 assists per game. Duke is averaging an impressive 84.6 points per game as a team and is shooting 49.6% from the field, both marks rank in the top-20 in the country. After winning five straight games Duke lost their first true road game on Saturday. The Blue Devils will head home where they have not lost all year.
Duke has won the last five meetings between these two teams, including a 73-57 win at Georgia Tech last year. Georgia Tech is catching Duke on a bad day and in what is always a hostile environment. Duke will be fired up coming off their loss on Saturday. I think the Blue Devils win by at least 20 on Tuesday.
