The Auburn Tigers and the Missouri Tigers face off on Saturday in SEC college basketball action.
The Auburn Tigers fought the good fight at Ole Miss in the SEC college hoops opener but in the end they came up just short. Auburn is 8-4 on the season and 8-1 at home but they don’t have a win over a team with a RPI better than 100. Chris Denson leads the Tigers averaging 19.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. K.T. Harrell is averaging 18.7 points, Tahj Shamsid-Deen is averaging 7.8 points, and Allen Payne is averaging 6.9 points and 6.5 rebounds. Auburn is averaging 75.7 points and they are shooting 46 percent while defensively they are allowing 70.3 points and their opponents are shooting 42.3 percent. Auburn has won four in a row prior to Thursday’s loss.

The Missouri Tigers dropped their SEC opener to Georgia in one of the bigger upsets in the opening conference play games. Missouri enetered the game ranked 21st in the country but it is doubtful regardless of the outcome of this one that they will maintain that position. Jordan Clarkson leads the Tigers averaging 18.8 points per game. Jabari Brown is averaging 18.4 points and 5.1 rebounds, Earnest Ross is averaging 14.1 points and 6.3 rebounds, and Johnathan Williams III is averaging 6.7 points and 7.2 rebounds. Missouri is averaging 75.4 points and they are shooting 48.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 65.4 points and their opponents are shooting 38.6 percent. Mizzou has won their only road game this season.
Auburn is 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games, 1=9 against the spread against the SEC, and 2-10 against the spread following a loss. Missouri is 5-1 against the spread following a loss, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, and 2-9 against the spread in their last 11 road games against a team with a winning home record.
Missouri is struggling and I don’t like the idea of laying points with them on the road.
