The Georgetown Hoyas visit Hinkle fieldhouse to battle the Butler Bulldogs Saturday afternoon.
Georgetown can’t get on the court quick enough after their worst outing of the season this past week at Providence. The Hoyas were off offensively all night and the Friars took advantage, pulling away for the 18 point win -- 70-52. D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera was the only Hoya in their starting 5 to score in double figures -- the streaky guard poured in 19 points and 5 rebounds. The Hoyas were just 2-7 from deep and only shot the ball 39.6% as a whole. The Hoyas need to find a way to get back in their groove and a win at Butler would be just what is needed before returning home.

Butler’s disappointing start to the season continued this past week with a heartbreaking loss to DePaul is 2OT’s 99.94. The Bulldogs struggled to stop DePaul’s usually lifeless offensive attack all night and the Blue Demons senior forward Cleveland Melvin scored his 30th points in style with the go ahead basket in 2OT’s that sealed the win. Kellen Dunham led the Bulldogs with 30 points and knocked down a game high 6 three pointers. Butler left a lot of chances at the line, especially in the 2nd half, finishing the game just 20-32 from the stripe. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 0-3 in conference play -- an unfamiliar spot for Butler after annual top finishes in the horizon conference.
This game should be pretty close throughout with guard play being the difference down the stretch. I think the Bulldogs get another big game out of Dunham and the Hoyas road shooting woes continue as Butler pulls away late in the second half for the win and the cover.
