Meanwhile, the Irish allowed NC State to get to the free throw line 32 times and they shot 78.1%. Garrick Sherman led the Irish with 21 points and career-high 18 rebounds. Notre Dame is one of the best teams in the country when it comes to distributing the basketball, averaging 17.6 assists per contest. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets dropped to 9-6 on the year after losing 79-57 at Duke on Tuesday night. Georgia Tech shot an impressive 49.1% from the field, but only 31.3% from three-point range. The Yellow Jackets only managed to get to the free throw line six times and they were outscored by 21 points in the second half. Marcus Georges-Hunt scored 18 points for the short-handed Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech was outrebounded for the first time this season and the absence of Robert Carter Jr. will not help moving forward. On the season, Trae Golden leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.6 points per game, while also averaging a team-high 3.5 assists. Georges-Hunt averages 12.1 points per game, while Carter Jr. is averaging a team-high 9.3 rebounds per contest. Georgia Tech averages 70.3 points per game while shooting 44.2% from the field. The Yellow Jackets are a good rebounding team, pulling down almost 40 boards per game. After playing four road games in a row, and losing three of them, Georgia Tech will be happy to be home for this game.
Notre Dame had a big win over Duke followed by a loss to NC State at home and now they will head out for their first road game in ACC competition.Georgia Tech played well against Duke on the road for the majority of the game but then they let it get away from them. I think this would be a close game if Georgia Tech was healthy but the absence of Carter Jr. worries me. I believe the Yellow Jackets will still play well at home, but Notre Dame will prove to be too much in the end.
