The Murphy Center and the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders host the Alabama-Birmingham Blazers.

Alabama-Birmingham and their fast paced attack have averaged a hefty 77 points per contest and while they allow 70 points it's more a factor of how fast they play because opponents are only hitting 39% of their attempts. The Blazers tuned up for conference play with a 96-75 rout of sub division Newberry behind 48% shooting which equated to nine more field goals. Chad Frazier led the scoring spree with 18 points, six pulls and seven helpers with CJ Washington adding 17 points and ten rebounds. Fahro Alihodzic and Robert Williams each netted 14 points followed by the duo of Jordan Swing and Rod Rucker chipped in with eleven points apiece and combined for 12 boards.

Spruce Derden-USA TODAY Sports

It will be interesting to see how former Sun Belt power Middle Tennessee State performs in the CUSA with several high quality teams to deal with. The Blue Raiders have looked both good and bad in fashioning a 10-5 record with a 74-66 decision over struggling Tennessee State being a little of both. The bad news was 35% marksmanship but the good news was 16 offensive rebounds and 16 forced turnovers resulting in 16 more looks at the basket. MTSU was led in the scoring column by Neiko Hunter and his 19 point, five pull effort with Kerry Hammonds dropping 16 points while Shawn Jones and Reggie Upshaw Jr. netted 14 and ten points with Jones hauling in eleven rebounds.

Both teams could finish anywhere in the top four of the conference so this will be a pretty good match up. I will take the points in what looks like an even battle...
