The Ole Miss Rebels and the LSU Tigers meet up on Wednesday in SEC college basketball action.
The Ole Miss Rebels are coming off of a four point road loss to their rival Mississippi State. Ole Miss is 6-3 at home this season and 1-1 in SEC play thus far. Marshall Henderson missed last game for Ole Miss but he should be back here and he is averaging 18.8 points per game to lead the Rebels. Jarvis Summers is averaging 17.9 points, Derrick Millinghaus is averaging 11.2 points, and LaDarius White is averaging 7.6 points. Mississippi is averaging 78.3 points and they are shooting 43.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 71.6 points and their opponents are shooting 40.8 percent. Ole Miss has lost winnable games this season.

The LSU Tigers are 1-1 in SEC play thus far this season and they are coming off of a win against South Carolina. LSU is 4-2 away from home and they have played the 100th ranked schedule which should get much more difficult in a hurry. Johnny O’Bryant III is averaging 14.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game to lead the Tigers. Jordan Mickey is averaging 14 points and 7.2 rebounds, Andre Stringer is averaging 11.4 points, and Anthony Hickey is averaging 8.6 points as is Jarrell Martin. As a team LSU is averaging 75.5 points and they are shooting 44.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 67.4 points and their opponents are shooting 38.3 percent. LSU is hoping to build a resume to become a NCAA Tournament team.
Ole Miss is 5-12 against the spread in their last 17 games following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six home games, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five games. LSU is 1-3-1 against the spread against the SEC, 1-6-1 against the spread in their last seven games, and 1-4 against the spread following a win. The favorite has covered the spread in five of the last seven meetings of these two.
It is a smallish line here but it think it is enough points for LSU to get the cover as I don’t put an outright win past them.
