The Kent State Golden Flashes face the Northern Illinois Huskies on the road in MAC play.
The past few weeks haven't been real kind to Kent State with defeats in four of five before notching their first MAC victory in an 86-74 decision over Ball State. It wasn't easy with the Cardinals up seven at the break before Ket awoke with a dominating final 20 minutes where nearly 53% shooting topped 51% thanks to 18 forced giveaways. Darren Goodson poured in a game high 23 points and snared seven boards with Kris Brewer adding 18 followed by Derek Jackson and Chris Ortiz tossing in 12 and nine points.

Anybody that follows MAC basketball or Northern Illinois in particular knows the best chance for this team to succeed is by slowing things to a crawl and milk the clock. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't but it was perfect last time out in 46-36 decision at Bowling Green. Offense was on the backburner with NIU connecting at 32.6% while the Falcons checking in with with 29%. The Huskies held on to an eight point half time lead with BGSU opening the second stanza with an 8-0 run before faltering. Travon Baker tossed in a contest best 13 points with Aksel Baker and Darrell Bowie combining for 13 points and 15 rebounds.
I could argue that Kent State should win with better talent but truth be known is Northern Illinois has played their schedule better and the Golden Flashes haven't impressed...
