The Line: Florida International Golden Panthers -1 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The 11-6 East Carolina Pirates will look to bounce back after losing four of their last five, as they travel to South Florida to take on the 9-9 Florida International Golden Panthers. Both teams are at the bottom of the barrel in the Conference USA, and they could desperately use a victory to help right the ship.
East Carolina relies heavily on its starting five, as only seven players have played in all 17 games this season. The lack of depth has put a ton of pressure on senior guard Akeem Richmond, who leads the way with 19.6 points per game. Other guard Paris Roberts-Campbell chips in with 13.5 points per contest, but he’s been on a cold streak recently, shooting 0-6 in the most recent game against Florida Atlantic.

While the Pirates rely on the guard play, Florida International gets most of its production from senior forwards Tymell Murphy and Rakeem Buckles. They not only combine for an average of close to 30 points per game, but they also crash the boards hard, an area where the Golden Panthers have a slight advantage over East Carolina.
I’d take the home team is pretty much a pick em, but the safer pick would to wait for the over/under. We know that the Pirates are a scoring machine (82.6 points per game), but they also allow teams to shoot 46.6 percent from the field. The lack of defense could turn this into a shootout like much of East Carolina’s games this season. The over is also 5-1 in Florida International’s last six games following a double-digit home loss.
Expect a lot of points and for this game to sail over the projected total.
