The Seton Hall Pirates visit Georgetown Saturday at noon for a Big East conference showdown.
Seton Hall is 10-7 on the year and fell to 1-3 in conference play this past weekend with a heartbreaking loss at the Bradley center to Marquette, 67-66. After erasing a 16 point second half deficit to cut the lead to 2, the Pirates came up short on a few late possessions and the Golden Eagles were able to hang on. Brian Oliver fueled the Pirates comeback for the most part and finished the contest with 15 points, including back to back 3’s to get the Hall close late in the game. Sterling Gibbs added 13 points and 5 assists at the guard slot and Patrik Auda scored 10 and added 8 well as he continues to fill in admirably for Fuquan Edwin as Edwin gets back into the swing of things after his injury a few weeks back.

Georgetown experienced a different kind of heartbreaking loss this past week as they blew a 17 points second half lead to lose by 13 at Xavier. The Hoyas led by 13 in the second half and were outscored 51-25 in the second half by the Musketeers -- an eye opening stat considering Georgetown’s slow it down pace of play. Smith-Rivera and Starks combined for 37 points and continue to be the only consistent option for the Hoyas. Georgetown was outrebounded 36-25 and committed 22 fouls that Xavier converted to 18-22 at the line. The loss moves the Hoyas to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play with a much needed return home looming.
Georgetown has consistently shown that they are a much better team at home this season. They have been awful on the road, but I expect their quality play to return to the surface this Saturday as they should be able to take advantage of the Seton Hall guards and the down low matchup is a wash. Look for the Hoyas to get the 12-15 point win at home and grab the cover to get to win number four in conference play.
