The Line: Morehead State Eagles -14.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The 6-14 Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks will look to build some much needed momentum when they travel to Morehead State to take on the 12-7 Eagles.
Although the Skyhawks record isn’t pretty, they haven’t had the easiest schedule. In fact, it’s been pretty brutal. Tennessee-Martin has played Colorado, Florida State, UNLV, Arkansas and Murray State, a team that is the best in the Ohio Valley West Division. This tough schedule could help prepare the team for its 12th road game of the season.

As for the numbers, Tennessee-Martin isn’t a flashy team. It shoots just 40.6 percent from the field, and the 32.3 rebounds per game makes this one of the worst rebounding teams in the country. However, a combination of solid free throw shooting (71.4 percent) and guard Terrance Smith (14.5 points and 3.4 assists) have helped keep the Skyhawks fairly competitive. Unfortunately, that hasn’t translated into much covering, as Tennessee-Martin is 4-8 against the spread this season.
Morehead State averages 79 points per game and dominates the glass with an average of 40.5 rebounds. Guard Angelo Warner is the scoring-leader with 17.1 points per contest, while senior center Chad Posthumus is averaging a double-double. It goes without saying that the Eagles are a better team and a 4-2 against the spread record is intriguing. However, a 67.7 percent from the free throw line and the lack of deep threats (29.8 percent from three), makes me want to lean in the other direction.
The road team is 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings and Tennessee-Martin is 4-0-1 against the spread in its last five following a 100-point performance. Give me the points in somewhat of a shocking Ohio Valley Conference matchup.
