The North Carolina Tar Heels dropped to 10-6 on the year after losing to Syracuse 57-45 last Saturday. The Tar Heels did not play well against the Syracuse zone, shooting 39.2% from the field and an awful 16.7% from behind the arc. North Carolina only reached the free-throw line 9 times and made just 3 attempts. Marcus Paige had a team-high 17 points, while James Michael McAdoo had a team-high 9 rebounds and 3 steals. On the season, Paige leads the Tar Heels with 17 points and 4.3 assists per contest. McAdoo is averaging 14.4 points per game and a team-high 6.6 rebounds. The Tar Heels are averaging 75.6 points per game while shooting a decent 45.2% from the field as a team so far this season. North Carolina ranks 11th in the country in rebounds per game, averaging 41.6 boards per contest this season. The Tar Heels have lost three straight after winning three straight at the end of December. North Carolina will be at home for this matchup; the Tar Heels have already lost three games at home this season.
Boston College has been playing much better defense than they were at the beginning of the season, while on offense they live and die by the three-ball. While the Eagles may have success on offense against an inconsistent Tar Heels squad, they will have trouble stopping North Carolina on the defensive end of the floor. North Carolina has been up and down all year and I believe this will be one of their better performances of the year. The Tar Heels should have no problem scoring and they should dominate the glass in this game. I’m taking the Tar Heels to win big at home on Saturday.
