The Syracuse Orange improved to 17-0 after beating Boston College 69-59 on Monday night. Syracuse shot 45.3% from the field and 40% from behind the arc. The Orange reached the free-throw line 21 times and made a solid 81% of their attempts. Trevor Cooney scored 21 points while Jerami Grant added 16 for Syracuse. C.J. Fair and Tyler Ennis both had 12 points, while Ennis had a team-high 5 assists and 6 steals. On the season, Fair leads the team with 17.1 points per game while also averaging 5.8 assists per contest. Cooney is averaging 14.1 points per game, while Ennis averages a team-high 5.6 assists for the Orange. Syracuse is averaging 72.8 points per game while shooting 45.9% from the field as a team this season. The Orange are a decent rebounding team and an average team when it comes to distributing the basketball on offense. Syracuse will be at home for this game where they have won most of their games by double-digits.
These two teams have split the last four meetings with Syracuse winning by 3-points in the last meeting. This should be one if not the best game of the day on Saturday and I think it will live up to the hype when it’s all said and done. Pittsburgh has the edge in the front court and on the glass, while Syracuse has the edge in the backcourt with Fair and Ennis leading the way. I think this will be a competitive game down to the end and Pittsburgh has a great chance of handing Syracuse their first loss of the year. I’m taking the points with the Panthers on the road.
