Bartow Arena and the Alabama-Birmingham Blazers host the Texas El Paso Miners.
Texas El Paso seems to have responded from suspensions due to a point shaving scandal and overall have won seven of eight behind their top 50 defense. That defense left it's mark in a 63-54 decision at Middle Tennessee State with the home team held to 32% from the field while the Miners connected at 46% to win it despite 17 giveaways. UTEP received a contest best 20 points and eight rebounds from Vince Hunter followed by Julian Washburn and CJ Cooper with 12 and eleven points with the latter snagging five pulls.

Alabama-Birmingham and their score first approach has been quite successful as they have built a very nice 12-4 record. The Blazers offense continued to click with a big hand from the defensive end of the floor in a 78-65 decision over Texas-San Antonio. The Blazers were never tested although the Roadrunners never were put away but their 32% from the field wasn't good enough to rally on. The lone difference was the Blazers 43% from the floor which accounted for six more field goals. CJ Washington was the scoring star with 20 points and and eleven boards with Fahro Alihodzic next in line with 17 while Robert Williams chipping in with ten points seven yanks and five assists.
I know UTEP lost one of their best so I can see their defense being huge going forward and it has to against a potent Alabama-Birmingham attack. I'm a defense lover so...
