The Virginia Commonwealth Rams tangle with the Duquesne Dukes at the Stuart Segel Center.
Duquesne is not a team many had on the radar in the Atlantic Ten and to prove the experts wrong the Dukes need to rebound from a 1-2 start in the conference. Their defense has struggled to get stops which continued in an 84-75 loss at Saint Joseph's as a 52-20 deficit at the half setting the tone. The Hawks burned the nets at 64.6% with the visitors countering with 38.6% with 22 more attempts enabling the team to keep the score reasonable at the end. The Dukes were led in the scoring column by Derrick Colter and Jerry Jones with 14 points each followed by Ovie Soko and Dominique McKoy adding ten points each.

Virginia Commonwealth is no stranger to the lopsided victory but every once in awhile an opponent will stand tall and put up a fight. That was what we saw last time out with the Rams falling at George Washington 76-66 where the Colonials led throughout and pulled away late. The Rams trailed by seven at the break and were never able to mount a late come back. The big difference came in the shooting department whre GW fired away at 56% with VCU countering at under 37%. The Rams did force 19 turnovers to total 20 more shots which was negated with the shooting struggles. Rob Brandenberg led the VCU offense with 17 points with Treveon Graham and Melvin Johnson netting 13 and 12 points.
That was a great come back from Duquesne versus Sant Joseph's but if they fall behind against VCU on the road they are road kill. No real lean except for the points and there might not be enough...
