Two of the better teams in the Patriot League will duke it out when the 8-8 Loyola (MD) Greyhounds take on the hot 12-6 Boston University Terriers in Agganis Arena. The Greyhounds have won three of their last four games, while the Terriers have won five straight and are 5-2 at home this season.
Loyola is an inconsistent team that won’t blow you away on either end of the court. It averages only 69.8 points, shoots only 67.7 percent from the free throw line and turns the ball over 12 times per game. It also allows teams to shoot above 45 percent from the field defensively. However, it manages to stay in games. Whether it’s stealing the ball at the right time or playing unselfish offensively, the Greyhounds have hung around with some good teams this season.

Loyola only lost to Connecticut by 10 points and Stony Brook by seven.
Meanwhile, Boston has found a rhythm as of late, as it has yet to lose a game in 2014. It is led by a scoring trio in Maurice Watson Jr., Dom Morris and D.J. Irving, all players who are averaging more than 10 points per contest and take turns each night in filling up the stat sheet. This scoring ability has helped Boston turn the corner after a shaky start to the season and put the Terriers in a position to compete for a conference title.
From a handicapping perspective, this is Boston or no pick. The Terriers are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games against teams with a losing record. They’re also 4-1 against the spread in their last five games played on Monday.
The Greyhounds need to develop some type of consistency before you can any faith in them.
