The Line: Marist Red Foxes -3.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Two teams with a losing record will meet up when the 7-9 St. Peter’s Peacocks and the 5-12 Marist Red Foxes play Monday night at the McCann Center.
Both of these clubs have more in common than their overall record. They both shoot in the high 30-percent from the field, turn the ball over at least 12 times per game and shoot 70 percent from the charity stripe. In other words, this game is going to be sloppy and should be a no pick if you’re actually looking for a winner.
But if you insist, Marist does turn the ball over 14 times a game and is allowing teams to score 70.8 points on defense. That’s a recipe for wanting to pick the road team, especially since St. Peter’s has won its last three games and is playing much better basketball. The Peacocks are also 11-4-1 against the spread in their last 16 games played on Monday.
St. Peters has one of the better players in the MAAC in forward Marvin Dominique, who is averaging nearly 18 points and nine rebounds per game. Marist doesn’t have anybody who matches up well with him, so expect the junior to be the difference in the game.
The Peacocks are 3-1 against the spread in their last four road games. That’s the direction I’m going here.
The hotter team with the better player is getting points. I'm on board.
