The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Ohio State Buckeyes face off on Monday in Big Ten college basketball action.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers are in a tailspin as they are winless in Big 10 conference play. Outside of a one point loss to Michigan Nebraska hasn’t ben close getting pounded on a nightly basis. Terran Petteway leads the Huskers averaging 17.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Shavon Shields is averaging 10.9 points and 5.2 rebounds, Walter Pitchford is averaging 8.4 points and 4.4 rebounds, and Ray Gallegos is averaging 8.4 points. Nebraska is averaging 69.4 points and they are shooting 42.9 percent while defensively they are allowing 68.2 points and their opponents are shooting 44.7 percent. Nebraska is 7-1 at home this season but they are 0-6 against teams with a RPI of 50 or better.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are ranked 11th in the nation but that is likely to change and drop as they have lost three games in a row. OSU is 3-2 away from home but just 2-3 in Big 10 play. LaQuinton Ross is averaging 14.1 points and 5.8 rebounds to lead the Buckeyes. Lenzelle Smith Jr. is averaging 12 points and 5.0 rebounds, Amir Williams is averaging 9.3 points and 6.6 rebounds, and Aaron Craft is averaging 9.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. Ohio State is averaging 73.9 points and they are shooting 46.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 57.9 points and their opponents are shooting 38.7 percent. Ohio State is playing their third road game in their last four games.
Nebraska is 1-2-1 against the spread in their last 13 home games, 16-4-1 against the spread following a loss, and 1-4 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread. Ohio State is 8-2 against the spread against the Big Ten, 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, and 1-5 against the spread following a loss. The home team has covered the point spread in the last four meetings of these two.
While Nebraska hasn’t been able to get wins they have played in close games and covered spreads at home and I look for them to do that here as well.
