The FAU Arena is likely going to be packed when the Harvard Crimson take on the Florida Atlantic Owls. Harvard heads into the matchup with a 14-2 record (best in the Ivy League) and the Owls are a disappointing 6-12 but winners in three of their last five.
The Crimson continue to play solid basketball, as they’re easily one of the better mid-major teams this season. They're a great shooting team from everywhere on the floor and have two versatile players in Wesley Saunders and Kyle Casey. However, check the status of Saunders before making a pick as the junior forward has missed the last two games with a knee injury. He’s questionable once again.

Florida Atlantic is one of the bottom feeders in the Conference USA but has been playing its best basketball of the season as of late. Guard Pablo Bertone is a major scoring threat with his 18 points per game average and even center Justin Raffington has scored at least 10 points in seven straight games. The Owls are an overall athletic team that is averaging close to 39 rebounds per game, which is four more than Harvard.
The Crimson are the better team, but I think the Owls can keep this close on their home floor. It’s the biggest home game of the year for them and although they don’t win much, they have played close games against Boston College, Maryland and Old Dominion.
Florida Atlantic is 8-2 against the spread in its last 10 games against teams with a straight up winning record. It’s a team that’s starting to generate a little confidence and should give its best effort against a solid NCAA Tournament team.
Take the points.
