One of the best games the Tuesday college basketball slate has to offer is a matchup between Boise State and New Mexico. Both teams are jockeying for position in a competitive Mountain West Conference and have been playing some of their best basketball recently. The Lobos have won six of their last seven and the Broncos have won three of their last five.
New Mexico is one of the more balanced teams in the country, as it shoots 43 percent from the field, averages 40 rebounds and has one of the top players in the conference in Cameron Bairstow. The senior forward drops 20 points and grabs seven rebounds on a nightly basis. The team also plays better defense than Boise State, holding teams to just 40.2 percent shooting and 38.8 percent at home.

Boise State isn’t going to win many rebounds in this matchup, but it is capable of dropping a great deal of points. The Broncos have three efficient scorers in Anthony Drmic, Derrick Marks and Ryan Watkins. Those three carry the team scoring wise and will need to have a great game if they hope to pull off the upset.
This game should be competitive and is likely going to come down to the wire. Neither team has been great at covering the spread this season with New Mexico 4-9 and Boise State 5-8. It also doesn’t help that the Lobos are 1-4 against the spread at home. However, this line isn’t too steep for the home team, especially when you factor in that Boise State is 0-4 against the spread in its last four meetings against New Mexico.
Give me the small chalk and the better team at home.
