San Diego State will put its 15-game winning streak on the line when it takes on the 6-12 San Jose Spartans Wednesday night. The Spartans have now lost six straight and this will easily be their toughest task of the season.
You can just look at the spread and realize that this game isn’t expected to be close at all. The Aztecs are a potential Final Four team, while the Spartans are at the bottom of the Mountain West and can’t wait for their season to come to an end.

I usually don’t like laying a large number on the road, and that rule of thumb will remain intact. San Jose State is one of the worst shooting teams in the country at 40 percent. Those numbers may be even worse in this matchup with a San Diego State defense that holds teams to 37.3 percent shooting. San Jose also doesn’t have the depth or athleticism to match this deep and scary San Diego State roster that seems to be getting better and better each game.
However, San Diego State hasn’t exactly been killing teams on the road. They only beat San Diego by one point, Colorado State by 10 and Air Force by seven. This will be the Spartans biggest game of the season and the San Jose State Event Center should be packed. San Jose is 5-1 against the spread in its last six games against teams with a winning record above 60 percent.
This isn’t to say the Spartans will win straight up, but they should show up enough to keep the score within the projected number on their home floor. Double digits is just too big a number for a team that just barely squeezes by in road games.
