The Line: UNLV Rebels -3.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Both UNLV and Utah State will look to bounce back after losing its most recent games when they meet Wednesday night in the Thomas and Mack Center. The Aggies are coming off a road loss to Boise State and the Rebels lost on the road to San Diego State.
This game will likely come down to which team can generate second chance opportunities and grab the most rebounds. They both play terrific in-your-face defense and do a nice job shooting the ball from the field. As far as rebounds are concerned, UNLV is one of the best rebounding teams in the country with an average of 41.8 per night, while the Aggies are not too far behind with an average of 37.3 per game.
Whichever team can dominate the paint and take advantage of easy put backs will likely win this crucial Mountain West matchup.
You have to give the edge to the Rebels and their big men. I thought they had a great chance to upset San Diego State, but boy did that turn out wrong. I think you’re going to see an upset team that’s searching for a feel good victory in front of its home crowd.
The Rebels are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games played on Wednesday, and they’re also 6-1 against the spread in their last seven home games against a team with a losing road record.
Utah State has lost three of its last five games straight up, and I expect the struggles to continue on the road.
Take the home team and the small chalk.
