Meanwhile, Louisiana-Lafayette sits in third place in the conference with a record of 3-2, including a 72-59 victory over Troy Saturday. The Ragin’ Cajuns shot 26 of 48 from the field and 6 of 15 from downtown, while holding the Trojans to 41 percent from the floor and 5 of 17 from beyond the arc. LA-Lafayette also forced 14 turnovers. Sophomore F Shawn Long led all scorers with 18 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks and junior G Elfrid Payton added 14 points, 8 assists and 6 boards. On the season, the Ragin’ Cajuns rank 14th nationally with 83.6 ppg and 57th at 47.3 percent shooting. Long leads the team in scoring with 20.8 ppg, followed by Payton at 19.7 ppg.
Rick’s Pick: This game is currently set at a PK, which makes perfect sense. The two have had similar results: two common opponents to date in Troy and McNeese State . Both beat the Cowboys by exactly 26 and both beat the Trojans as well. Georgia State beat Troy by 9 and the Ragin Cajuns beat em by 13. La-Lafayette is also averaging about 4 points a game more and they get the lean based on little more than home court.
