The Line: Western Carolina Catamounts +1 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Davidson and Western Carolina will create an underrated matchup in the Southern Conference Thursday night. Both teams have been playing decent basketball as of late with the Wildcats winning four out of their last five games and the Catamounts winning five of their last six.
If you’ve been following either team this season, neither one has helped make you any money. Davidson is 7-10 against the spread, while Western Carolina isn’t much better with a record of 5-8. However, Davidson has covered all seven of its victories on the road. That’s great news for this matchup. Western Carolina is 2-1 against the number in front of its home fans.

While both teams have been hot over the last week or so, it’s the Wildcats that are shooting 51.1 percent from the field and 40.7 from beyond the arc in the last five games. The team simply isn’t missing much and that may continue against a Western Carolina defense that is allowing its opponents to shoot 45.6 percent from the field. To make matters worse, the Catamounts continue to have a hard time putting points on the board and are still shooting a below-average 41 percent.
Neither team is all that great and while it may be your gut instinct to take the home team, I have no choice but to pick that team that’s capable of going on a scoring tear. If Davidson continues to shoot the ball the way it has, this game won’t even be close.
Davidson is 3-2 in its last five games against the spread and is also 5-0 against the spread in its last five road games.
The Wildcats will finally make you some money with this pick.
