The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles shoot for another road win when they visit the East Carolina Pirates.
Southern Mississippi has one of the better scoring and defensive combinations in the CUSA with both on the same page more often then not. The Golden Eagles rode a dominating second half to topple Old Dominion 75-60 behind 44% from the floor getting the job done because of a 12-21 mark from long range. The Monarchs were held to 41.7% and gave the ball away 17 times and 7-20 on threes. Neil Watson exploded for 28 points including a 6-7 mark on threes with Jerrold Brooks tossing in 18 points followed by an eleven point, five board, six assist effort from Michael Craig.

East Carolina possesses one of the more potent offenses in the game that averages 80 points but the defense tends to allow points as well so this unit can't afford to have an off night. The defense came up big but the scoring was off in a 59-54 loss to visiting Tulane as the Pirates struggled to only 36% from the field and turned the ball over 14 times. The D limited the Green Wave to 43%which turned out to be too much with the ECU offense unable to speed up the pace. East Carolina received 14 points each from Caleb White and Akeem Richmond with Paris Roberts-Campbell and Michael Zangari netting ten and eight points with 12 boards between them.
I think the numbers tell the story here with Southern Mississippi having the potential here although laying sizeable road chalk is not my style...
