The Syracuse Orange travel to Miami to play the Hurricanes on Saturday.
Syracuse improved to 18-0, 5-0 ACC after beating Pittsburgh 59-54 last weekend. Syracuse entered the game 2-0 against former Big East rivals, with victories over St. John’s and Villanova. The Orange made it three straight and remained one of only three unbeatens in Division I. The Orange shot 51.2% from the field, while holding Pittsburgh to 38.3% with their zone defense. Tyler Ennis scored a team-high 16 points, while C.J. Fair had 13 points for the Orange. On the season, Fair averages a team-high 16.8 points per game, whle Ennis averages a team-high 5.5 assists. Syracuse is averaging 72 points per game while shooting 46.1% from the field as a team this season. The Orange are not a great rebounding team and are averages at best when it comes to distributing the ball on offense. Syracuse will now head out on the road for back-to-back games after having the week off.

The Miami Hurricanes dropped to 10-8, 2-4 ACC after losing to Duke 67-46 on Wednesday night. The Hurricanes shot only 35.4% from the field and 20% from behind the arc in the loss. Donnavan Kirk led Miami with 11 points, while Tonye Jekiri had a team-high 9 rebounds. Rion Brown leads the Hurricanes with 13.4 points per game, while Kirk averages 10 points a game a team-high 6.4 rebounds. The Hurricanes are shooting 41.8% from the field and are averaging 61.5 points per game as a team this season. Miami is not a great rebounding team and they are even worst when it comes to distributing the ball on offense. The Hurricanes have lost three of the their last four contests and will now have another tough game at home.
Syracuse has not played many games away from home this year, but I think they have a huge advantage in this game. If Miami plays a zone on defense, the Orange should find ways to break it down and score efficiently. On the other end, Miami will have to knock down some shots from outside in order to score against the Syracuse zone. I don’t think the Hurricanes will be able to hang around with Syracuse on Saturday.
