The Gentry Complex and the Tennessee State Tigers host the Morehead State Eagles in an OVC bout.
Score first Morehead State has an improved look this season but tend to struggle when not putting the ball in the basket. That was the trend that was unfortunately alive and well in an 80-66 loss at conference leader Belmont. The Bruins broke open a close game with a late surge with 50% shooting leading the way. The Eagles sank shots at 46% but committed 16 turnovers and were outscored at the stripe 24-13 at the stripe. Brent Arrington was the top scorer with 21 points and five helpers followed by Angelo Warner with 16 while Chad Posthumus tossed in 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Tennessee State lost their share of talent from a season ago and it has shown up in their record. The most obvious problem has been at the defensive end of the floor where opponents are averaging 77 points which is a number any team would be hard pressed to overcome. Those issues came to light in a 94-78 loss to visiting Eastern Kentucky who jumped to a 13 point lead after 20 minutes and were never challenged. Both teams sank shots in the 55% range but the Colonels connected on 13 bombs and held an edge at the charity stripe as well. Patrick Miller carried the scoring with a 33 point, six board performance with Jordan Gaither netting another 20 points but the team lacked scoring outside of this pair.
I think this is a game Morehead State has to have and the numbers say it's the Eagles or nothing. I'm actually leaning to nothing because this number seems strange to me...
