Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Texas Southern will get some national attention Monday night when they play one another on ESPNU. The Golden Lions are at the bottom of the Southwestern Athletic Conference with a 4-14 record, while the Tigers are 8-10 and winners in three of their last four games.

Neither team has had many lined games this season, as Arkansas-Pine Bluff is only 0-1 against the spread this season and Texas Southern is 0-2 against the number. It’s quite hard to get a good feel for either team with that being the case.
We do know that neither team plays defense. Arkansas-Pine Bluff is allowing teams to shoot an insane 52.1 percent from the field and Texas Southern isn’t too far off with a defense that allows 46.7 percent of shots to fall in. Offensively, the Tigers are one of the better teams in the country with an average of more than 78 points per game. The Golden Lions? Not so much with an average of only 62.1 points per game.
The stats say the home team in Texas Southern should win this game fairly easily. However, Arkansas-Pine Bluff has lived on the road this season, playing only two games all year on its home court. It’s played Oklahoma State, SMU, Oregon State, Creighton and Iowa on the road. Playing Texas Southern should be a break for this team considering the competition it’s faced all season.
With the game being nationally televised, I think the Golden Lions are going to give an honest effort to play well. I wouldn’t touch this game with any actual money considering neither team is all that great, but I’d roll the dice with Arkansas-Pine Bluff and the points for the sake of the article.
